Grade Book for Professors v2.5
Posted by Jon Nale in Change-log, Grade Book on August 31, 2010
Change-log:
- We changed the way Google authorization works. When you open one of your grade books, the app will login and will save the authorization token. This authorization token is then used when you access a student grades, making this process significantly faster.
- FEATURE: You can now select spreadsheet columns that are greater than column T.
- FEATURE: Long-pressing on a student name gives you an option to edit their grade. We did this so you didn’t have to load each students grade report every time you wanted to edit a grade.
- BUG FIX: Before, if you entered a spreadsheet name or display name with a single quote ( ‘ ) the app would crash. This was due to the way we were storing data to MySQL. You can now add grade books with a single quote in the name.
Update – Grade Book for Professors v1.1!
Posted by Jon Nale in Apps, Grade Book on August 27, 2010
Grade Book for Professors has been updated to version 1.1.
Change-log:
- Bug fixed: If you had two grade books with the same display name, deleting one of them would cause the application to force close. A simple change to the MySQL statement was made to prevent this from happening.
- Bug fixed: If you used the same spreadsheet for multiple grade books, editing one of those grade books caused all grade books with the same spreadsheet to update with the new changes. Again, a simple change to the MySQL statement was made to prevent this from happening. Now, only the grade book you selected will update.

Grade Rubric – Demo Version!
Posted by Andrew Cullison in Uncategorized on May 5, 2010
We just released a demo version of Grade Rubric. This version has the calculation function of the paid version, but won’t auto-generate the grade reports. The paid version will also soon be getting more features (e.g. more rubric options, weighting options and more).
But this one is still going to be very useful. We hope you enjoy it. You can search for it on the market or scan the QR code below.
Grade Rubric Update – Email Grades!
Posted by Andrew Cullison in Apps, Grade Rubric on May 5, 2010
We upgraded Grade Rubric. Now users have the option of generating an email message when you press the calculate button. The auto-generated message will include the final grade and a breakdown of your marks for each rubric category. All you’ll have to do is enter their email address (which will be very quick if your students are in your gmail contacts) and press send. You can even customize the subject, intro message, and signature.
Announcing Grade Rubric!
Posted by Andrew Cullison in Apps on April 28, 2010
We’re proud to release another Android for Academic app – Grade Rubric.
This app is a simple, efficient grading tool for professors and teachers who use a grading rubric.
For example, suppose you break a paper down into five categories…
- On Time
- Clear Intro
- Presented an Argument
- Critically Discussed an Objection
- Appropriate Citation
Simply pick the kind of Rubric you want (Point Deductions or Letter Grade averages), set your labels, and use the radio buttons to grade each section in your rubric. Hit the calculate button and you’re finished. Record your grade. Hit the reset button and move on to the next student. It’s that easy. (You can read more about this app here).
We’ll post a demo video soon.
You can download Grade Rubric from the Android Market. Simply search “Grade Rubric” – you can also scan this QR code with your Android Phone.

There’s a lot of excitement about the next gen Droid from Verizon. Here’s a bit of news that should be exciting for academics – it’s going to have video out!
Imagine the possibilities in the classroom if your Droid could display on a TV or through a projector in a smart classroom. You could show powerpoint slide/documents/handouts/videos directly from you phone.
